法律英語(yǔ)（Legal English）是指英語(yǔ)中表述法律概念以及法律事務(wù)時(shí)所用的語(yǔ)種，具有專業(yè)性特點(diǎn)。掌握法律英語(yǔ)對(duì)閱讀外國(guó)法律著作、獲取第一手法律資料具有重要的意義。為了幫助同學(xué)們更好地閱讀法學(xué)文獻(xiàn)，培養(yǎng)國(guó)際化法律人才，山東大學(xué)法學(xué)院學(xué)生會(huì)學(xué)術(shù)部特推出法律英語(yǔ)系列推文。本期將介紹常用法律詞匯appeal的釋義及用法。

雙語(yǔ)釋義

n. A legal proceeding in which the appellant resorts to a higher court for the purpose of obtaining a review of a lower court decision and a reversal of the lower court's judgment or the granting of a new trial.上訴人訴諸高等法院以獲得對(duì)下級(jí)法院判決的復(fù)審、下級(jí)法院判決的撤銷或新審判的批準(zhǔn)的法律程序。

例句：The Court of Appeal has a pivotal role in the English legal system .

上訴法院在英格蘭司法體系中起著中心作用。

v. Take a court case to a higher court for review.將一個(gè)案件提交上級(jí)法院復(fù)審。

例句：He said he would appeal after being found guilty on four counts of murder.

法庭判決他犯有四項(xiàng)謀殺罪，他表示要上訴。

釋義：An appeal in which two or more parties, whose interests were similar enough to make a joinder practicable, proceed as a Single appellant.一種上訴，其中兩個(gè)或兩個(gè)以上的當(dāng)事人，其利益相似，足以使合并訴訟切實(shí)可行，作為單一上訴人進(jìn)行。
